Freedom Party

In the summer of 1925, visual artists, musicians, and writers joined civil rights activists, lawyers, physicians, and academics for a party that changed the world. Their gathering stoked the embers of one of the most discussed and robust periods of artistic revival, political upheaval, and scholastic engagement ever witnessed: the Harlem Renaissance.

This year’s Freedom Party will feature a performance by the soul singer SingTrece, live DJ sets from DJ Dou, a knowledge corner with books for the community, and a resource center, as well as face painting, games, and activities for all ages. Food will be provided by Southside, Asempa Kitchen, Taste of Thai, and Rashida Sawyer Bakery.
