Without Fear: Community Readings & Book Discussion

January 29 @ 12:00 pm - February 5 @ 1:30 pm
Free

Join the Center for Racial Justice and Equitable Futures for a community reading and engaging book discussion of Without Fear: Black Women and the Making of Human Rights by Dr. Keisha N. Blain.

Even before they were recognized as citizens of the United States, Black women understood that the fights for civil and human rights were inseparable. Over the course of two hundred years, they were at the forefront of national and international movements for social change, weaving connections between their own and others’ freedom struggles.

All registered participants will be able to pick up a free copy of Without Fear from community locations in December.

Participants are also warmly invited to attend Dr. Blain’s Black History Month lecture at Cornell University on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.

Cornell students, staff, and faculty can register for a discussion at the Center for Racial Justice and Equitable Futures on Thursday, February 5 here. Please note the discussion previously scheduled for Thursday, January 29 will now be moved and combined with the discussion on Thursday, February 5, 2026.

Community members in Ithaca can register for a discussion at Southside Community Center on Saturday, January 31 or the Tompkins County Public Library on Monday, February 2.

Space is limited, and RSVPs are required.
